Ministry Through Music

You know what I really love??? I love when music ministers to you!

There is nothing like turning on a praise and worship song to uplift you. Sometimes this is a song you have heard over and over and over again. Sometimes this is a song that you are hearing for the first time.

I have been putting off going to buy the Jonathan Nelson cd for several weeks now. I heard his song My Name is Victory for the first time when they sang it at church and I loved it! It speaks about being victorious in God and know who you are.

God gave me AUTHORITY
To conquer THE ENEMY
He wrote in MY DESTINY
That my name is VICTORY
He said that I've OVERCOME
I know I've ALREADY WON
He wrote in my DESTINY
That my name is VICTORY

I don't know about you, but those words just send an amazing chill through me. Knowing we have the authority to do things above and beyond what most of us can believe or even imagine is so awesome! Yes, I said awesome!

Another song that really got to me this weekend is by James Fortune, I'll Trust You. When going to buy the other CD I came across this one and it is equally amazing. I was watching this documentary on him a few weeks back on BET. He came through a lot in his life and never lost faith or trust in God. He was a hard headed kid who lived of this world (who wasn't at one point), but he came out of it got saved and trusted God for ALL things. I trust God, but I admit there are times when I want results ASAP and if I don't get them I start to lose hope. I have gotten so much better at not doing that, but it's all apart of growing in Christ!

even though i can't see
and i can't feel your touch
i will trust you lord
how i love you so much
though my nights my seem long
and i feel so alone
lord my trust is in you
i surrender to you

so many painful thoughts
travel through my mind
and i wonder how
i will make it through this time

but i trust you
lord it's not easy
sometimes the pain in my life
makes you seem far away
but i'll trust you
i need to know you're here
through the tears and the pain
through the heartache and rain

I really do love when music can minister to you. There is nothing like the feeling of an amazing praise and worship song playing in the background and your bible on your lap while you are laying on your couch!

Find something that inspires you to dig deeper in the word. This can be a song or whatever it is that gets you in the word. Just continue to grow every day in Christ!!

Have a blessed day! I'm about to turn on this CD and get some work done today!

I'll Be Back!

No worries guys! I am still around...

I apologize I have not been posting as frequent as I would like and you would like me to. I am going to step it up and bring it! Be patient!

If it's not a full blog it will be a scripture, chapter, book, or lesson I am studying.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Shake Those Haters Off!

For I hear the slander of many; there is terror on every side; they conspire against me and plot to take my life. But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me.

Psalms 31:13-15

Trust in God, know he is God and forget about your haters, enemies, manipulaters, crazy minded people, backstabbers, or whatever type of people your dealing with.

Those who trust in God are going somewhere in life. Don't let negative outside people and influences tear you down and forget who you are and more importantly whose you are.

Charlie Horse

I played 4 soccer games on Sunday, 1 outdoor and 3 indoor. Usually I will play 2 in a one day with no problem.

I have been slacking on drinking water lately so I started cramping in the 2nd half of the first indoor game in my calves, but it wasn't that bad so I just started drinking more water and stretching a lot during the game The second game they didnt bother me at all. I am dog sitting so I had to drive to monument (30 minutes away) to feed the dogs in between my last games. I get there and get out the car and a charlie horse runs through my hamstring and it hurt so bad. I started drinking gatorade and water and trying to put some food in me to help, I even had a electrlyte gel packet one of my teammates gave me.

Soooo I am driving back for the last game and I come to a stop light when I catch a charlie horse in my right (driving leg) groin AND quad AND hip at the same time. I was trying so hard to stretch it out in the car, but it was not working at all. Finally as I'm frantically trying to stretch it the light turns green and I make the left hand turn (i am in pain and yelling at the top of my lungs in my car) and no one would let me over so I couldnt pull into the gas station.

I said "forget this" stopped at the light, put on my hazards opened my door and started stretching. The end...NO!

Then a cop pulls up behind me and puts on his lights and by this time it had gone away for the time being because I opened my door to stretch it out. I told him I was fine and got back in the car and pulled off (I was too embarrassed to tell him about my charlie horse). I made it to the soccer place with only one more small pain and stretched immediately after I parked. I was fine in the game, but i stretched for like 15 minutes after to make sure I could make it back to Monument....never the less i am so incredibly sore today :( no fun at all!

So for all of you athletes who don't like drinking water. The above story is true and hopefully you will think twice before saying water is nasty, I'll drink a pop (it's NOT soda) instead!

Be Still

I was at bible study last night and we talked about being too busy for God. Something was said that really made me think.

How many of you read your bible EVERYDAY?? How many of you pray EVERYDAY?? I admit I strive to read my bible and pray everyday, but sometimes I do get too busy for God.

Our pastor asked the question "How many of you sit still and listed to God for at least one hour a day." I don't think more than two people raised their hands.

We pray and we read our bible, but we don't take the time to listen to what God has to say.

"Be still and know that I am God." We are so busy and active these days with sports, school, friends, significant others, spouses, work that we don't take the time we should to just be still. We can not hear what God is saying to us because we won't sit still.

I try and sit still, but those of you who know me, know that I probably have some kind of ADHD and can't sit still for long. My mind is always racing when I try to be quiet and listen to God. I do not have the patience to discipline my mind so that I can hear from God.

What's keeping you from hearing from God? I am going to accept my pastor's challenge and work on being still so I can hear what God is saying to me. I challenge to do the same.

I used to always say "Be Easy", so lets be easy and settle down in our busy lives and see what God is trying to say to us. Let's start with 5 minutes, then move to 10, then 15 and so on. Lets be still so we can move to another level in him together!!

When will we learn?

When we will learn that we can't just do whatever we want and there be no consequences? When will we learn to so stop putting our selfish self satisfactions first at the time? When will we learn that once it has happened it is too late and lives are now affected?

A 29 year old with 21 kids. He can't pay the full child support for each kid because he does not make enough money. 21 kids will now suffer because of this selfish man. I pray the mothers of these kids will be able to support them since the father is definitely not going to be able to help them all out!

Embarrasing Moment of the Day!

Soooo why was I outside of my job talking on the phone a couple of minutes ago, walking around as I was watching the fighter jets fly over the air force academy. Just after I hung up the phone all of of sudden my right ankle rolled and I started to go down hard! Now luckily I still have semi quick feet and was able to catch myself from the face plant that was about to happen. I stumbled for about 10 feet trying to stay up and keep my phone from falling out of my hand.

Never the less I was still in the parking lot and there were still people around. The sounds of laughter and 1 are you okay was all it took to make this the embarrasing moment of the day!!

The Lord is my rock!

The lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my sheild and my horn of salvation, my stronghold.

Psalms 18:2

This verse should give you so much comfort. A fortress is a place with phenomanal security. We can find all the protection we need in God. He tells us to come to him so he can protect, so he can take away the things that bother us. As soon as we learn that we can not do everything on our own and give it all to God our lives would be so much easier.

"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:29-30

"Cast all your cares and worries on him, for he cares for you"

I Peter 5:7

If we commit fully to God and make him head of EVERYTHING in our lives we have no reason to worry or feel like we are alone. We have no reason to feel like we are not being protected. These versus are just a few in the bible that will give you comfort whever your going through some of your stuff that life throws at us.

Keep moving to another level in him!!!

Scripture of the Day

Sorry I have not posted in a few days. I have been more busy than I expected!

I wanted to leave you guys with one of my favorite verses.

2Chronicles 15:7--

"But as for you, be strong and DO NOT give up, for your work will be rewarded."

It is guaranteed that all of us will come across many obstacles in life. The trick is not giving up and giving in. Surround yourself with people who will help you stay strong. You may not see the fruits of the seeds you are planting right now, but don't give up and you will soon see that all of your hard work will be rewarded!

New Post Coming Soon!

Hey Everyone!!

I hope you are all having a great weekend! I am enjoying my time in England very much, minus the fact that I am having a very hard time getting sleep. It's around 2 am and I am WIDE awake!

Unfortunately it is extremely expensive to use the internet so I haven't had time to post. Tomorrow when our event begins I will have free access to the internet and post a few things I wrote. One on Thursday during our prayer meeting and one on the plane to Manchester, so be ready!!

Manchester, England

Tomorrow morning I will be leaving Colorado Springs and headed to the UK! I am definitely excited to be going on this trip. I will be traveling with our U-23 team as the team leader. Organizing and making arrangements for this trip has been absolutely crazy!

It is pretty intense planning all of the arrangments for an entire team and staff! If something goes wrong or all of your i's are dotted or all of your t's are crossed, I am the one getting blamed :( No fun at all! So pray I don't mess anything up...lol...

I am so excited to be traveling, but I am not excited about how far I will be getting behind in work! Backed up emails and backed up voicemails is not what it do at all!

So pray for me and the team as we travel overseas to compete for the USA! I will try to keep everyone udpated on the trip!

Giving Advice

Have you ever just poured your heart out to someone or told someone about what you were going through and the first thing that came out of their mouth was "man, that sucks?" someone has even told me "Awww man, thats not good, well when you figure it out, let me know." What kind of advice is that??? I know I am not the only one that has experienced that and I myself have probably done it at some point in time.

Someone came to me yesterday with a problem and they wanted advice. My first thought was thank you God for giving me this opportunity to be the one he calls on. As he started explaining his problems and feelings to me I realized this was going to cause me to be completely transparent with him.

I was forced to expose a situation I had to deal with out and how I handled it to truly give this person the best advice I was capable of. At the end of the conversation he said he had never even looked at it that way. If someone comes to us for advice we must be transparent with that person or we are wasting thier time and ours.

We also have to remember not all of your friends are good for giving advice. I only have 4 people in my life that I will go to for advice. Even out of those 4 individuals, I can't go to some of them for everything. Telling your business to just anyone, friends or not, is how your business ends up around town! Seriously!

If you are a person your friends come to for advice just remember to be transparent and do not waste thier time. When you are spritually grounded you autmatically open yourself up to be confronted for advice.

If you are a person who is getting advice remember: Listen, friends, to some fatherly advice; sit up and take notice so you'll know how to live.I'm giving you good counsel; don't let it go in one ear and out the other. Proverbs 4:1-2 MSG

I'm ready for what you have for me

Kirk Franklin- Declaration (This is it)
Gonna cry now, go ahead and get it out of my system...I know I hurt now, but soon I gotta get back to livin'...Can't be here next year, givin' you these same tears I hope you enjoyed it, 'cause it's the last time you will take a piece of me... I start right now, I don't know how I'm gonna get through it I know right now, I pray somehow 'cause I can't do it... I can't keep livin' like this, there's gotta be more than this Jesus, I'm ready, I'm ready for what you have for me... (Are you gonna wait for a sign?) Are you ready for your miracle? God's people it's time to stand up and fight Let's get it, let's get it!

That song is my jam! There is a lot more to it, but this is my favorite piece I pulled out for all of you to read.

"I can't keep livin' like this, there's gotta be more than this, Jesus, I'm ready, I'm ready for what you have for me"
I have learned the hard way, but I am so glad I learned it while I am still young that I can't just live any old way and receive the blessings God has in store for me. This song is amazing because it covers a lot of the things we deal with during our spiritual walk.
I have learned there is a lot more to life with God. There is a lot more joy and peace. There is laughter everywhere. There are good friends that stay by your side through the good and the bad. There are many new people you will meet young and old that will add something to your life.
In order to to truly be ready for what God has in store for you, you have be truly living your life right. God knows our hearts and he is not going to "bless a mess" (Pastor Baldwin used to always say). We should self examine our hearts before we tell God we are ready for what he has for our lives. I am not even about to lie to him and say I'm ready, no no, but I'm getting oh so close. I try and surround myself with positive people, temptations are easier to fight off, I'm smiling more (at least thats what someone at church told me), I make the right decisions.
It is hard to do, but at some point in time (hopefully soon) we all need to let God know "I'm ready for what you have for me" and just let him work all in, through, and around you!
Oh! on a side note: It is not a good idea at all to get only 3 hours of sleep and try to function at work all day! I can't hang like I used to!

Judging Others

This post came from a comment I left on my little brother's blog. This has affected me very recently in my life. It is imperative that we stop judging others. You miss out on some good people and relationships when your life consists of judging everyone. Matthew 7:3 says "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"

I think it's funny when people say they don't judge anyone. That comment always makes me laugh. It's unfortunate, but it does happen. I myself do it! No where near as much as I used to, but it happens. I had a roommate out here when I first came to CO Springs. I immediately judged her and decided we had nothing in common. We were roomates for 5 months and never hung out once or even had a decent conversation. Now, a little over a year later we are pretty good friends, we play soccer together, text, have good laughs and coach a little boys team together. Stupid me! I missed out on a year of a good friendship.

It also says in Matthew 7 "Do not judge or you will be judged, for in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

I say that because I had a VERY hard time making friends when I came out here and it took almost a year to realize why. I believe it was because of that situation and it took me to ask God's forgiveness for judging. Now I'm back on track and meeting some great people and lovin it.

I know it happens, but lets make an effort to stop judging one another!

Moving to Another Level in Him

I actually received the motivation to start a blog from my little brother Bruce just yesterday. I was reading through some of his postings and it made me begin to think. (www.befox17.blogspot.com)

I have not always lived my life right and I still make mistakes. There might be 10 people who read this blog and 9 say that was whack! That is fine with me! That 1 person whose life and thinking was changed by something I said is all I am looking for. My life was changed by the light God placed for me in only 1 person. One is all takes.

Why title my blog "Moving to Another Level in Him?" This is something I am sure many of you have heard before. It is time we stopped settling for less than the best. It is time we begin to improve our lives on a daily basis.

I challenge you all to join me in moving to another level him. For you this might mean putting God first in your life, this could mean stop cursing, this might mean pick up your bible on another day of the week besides Sundays, this might mean starting to pray (outside of church), this could also mean changing your friends. Whatever it is you feel you need to do to move to the next level then just do it.

I am going to start off by moving to another level in my prayer life. 1Thessalonians 5:17 says "Cease without praying" KJV and "Pray Continually" NIV.

Prayer authorizes God to get involved in the mess we go through with life. I think many people don't pray continually because if the prayer isn't answered when they want it, they begin to lose faith or feel they are wasting their time. (I will admit I once felt this way)

I had to learn the hard way that prayer is the most important thing in life. If you are not communicating with your father how do you expect things to be done? How do you expect him to give you the things we want and desire if you dont talk to him about everything? Proverbs 4:6 says "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." KJV. Talking to God should be like talking to your best friend, fun to do and comfortable. The more we talk to our best friends the more comfortable we get, we can then tell them anything and everything. God wants us to do the same thing with him and have that same relationship.

I am challenging myself to enter my prayer closet everyday. (This is not a room in my house for those of you who don't know). Matthew 6:6 says "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." KJV- Go to a place in God with no interuptions, where it is just you and your father talking it out. Yes this means no TV and cell phones. You might even have to turn off your computer to avoid being distracted by facebook. Your prayer closet is a place with no distractions where you can focus only on talking to God. Entering into your prayer closest means you will have to do more than a "Jesus Wept" prayer, but if this is where you have to start then go for it. Prayer has to begin somewhere!

I am so excited for this ride I know I am about to take by moving to another level in Him. I encourage you all to find what is lacking or what is weak in your spiritual life and make an effort to improve it. Together we can move to another level in him!!
